During this period, the Sino-Japanese War broke out and intensified. At the same time, the government general of Taiwan strengthened its control against Taiwanese and established Buraku（a small administrative area） as a control unit. This research aims to provide an overall picture of Joshi Seinen-dan during this period of Taiwan by utilizing archives and interviews. In so doing, I attempt to examine gender relations in colonial Taiwan. The policy of governor general toward Joshi Seinen-dan was conditioned by war situation, and the environment surrounding Seinen-dan （young men\u0027s association）.
