| 内容記述 | 本稿では１５世紀後半の写本、オックスフォード大学ボードリアン図書館所蔵MS. Eng. poet. e．１（e．１写本と略記）に収められた女性風刺キャロルの分析を行う。キャロルは、中世後期に登場した俗語歌謡の一種で、聖職者や世俗の歌手により歌われたと推察されてきている。e．１写本は、７２篇のキャロルと４篇のラテン詩を収めるが、うち１２篇で女性が描かれ、最も頻繁に風刺対象となった。e．１写本においては、女性の中でも既婚女性というカテゴリーに風刺対象が限定され、彼女たちの、夫より優位に立とうとする行動が非難された。他の風刺キャロルと比較すると、e．１写本では立場の逆転を戒める際に既婚女性というカテゴリーが用いられたと推察できる。e．１写本の既婚女性のイメージには、人々が既定の社会的地位を越えることは想定されていなかった、中世の価値観を守ろうとした原所有者の意図が反映されているのではないか。本稿では１５世紀後半の写本、オックスフォード大学ードリアン図書館所蔵MS. | 内容記述 | The imagery of secular women, as depicted in carol texts, is the main focus of this paper. I shall consider the carols found in Bodleian MS.Eng.poet. e.1(or ‘e.1’)−a 15th Century manuscript kept at the University of Oxford. Collected during the late 15th century, e.1 consists of 72 carols and 4 Latin poems. Twelve of these carols depict secular women, and in satirical carols women are the most frequently occurring characters. Moreover, ‘married women’ are the main targets of satirical carols about women in e.1, and not ‘maidens’ or ‘widows’. They are portrayed as domineering, and are criticised for attempting to challenge established gender statuses. Thus, we may conclude that the imagery of women in e.1 reflects the original owner’s intention to protect established medieval values, in which people are discouraged from seeking to alter their social and gender status. | |||||
