| 内容記述 | 本研究ではLINEチャットの会話の相づちの働きを明らかにするため、1）機能 2）出現箇所に応じた談話管理の方略について分析した。その結果1）については、半数以上が「感情の表出」で、非言語情報が欠落するLINEチャットの会話では、聞き手は「感情の表出」を用いて積極的に会話に参加していることが分かった。2）については、相づちをどのように構成して送信するかというメッセージのタイプを出現箇所別に見ると、相手のメッセージの直後に出現する「直後の相づち」は単独送信が多いが、離れたメッセージに対する「非直後の相づち」は、実質的な内容を表す発話と共に送信されることが多かった。相づちは同期性を高めるために単独で送信されるが、発話の連鎖が複雑な箇所では実質的な発話と共に送信してどのメッセージに対する相づちか認識しやすくし、談話を管理していることが分かった。以上の結果から、LINEチャットの会話における相づちの新たな働きを示した。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This study aims to clarify the role of backchannels in LINE chat conversations by analyzing 1) the functions and 2) the discourse management strategies divided according to response timing. The results revealed that, regarding the functions, more than 50% of backchannels had the “expression of emotion” function. As LINE chat conversations lack nonverbal cues, receivers indicate active participation in conversation through “expressions of emotion”. Regarding the response timing and message type of sending backchannels, most of the “immediate backchannels” (positioned immediately after the co-participant’s message) are transmitted without a substantial comment, whereas most of the “non-immediate backchannels” (positioned remotely from the co-participant’s message) are transmitted with a substantial comment. It is argued that in LINE chat conversations backchannels without substantial comments increase synchrony. On the other hand, in complex sequences, backchannels with substantial comments make it easier to identify which message the backchannel is responding to. From this, we can say that backchannels are used for discourse management. Finally, a new role of backchannels in LINE chat conversations is suggested. | |||||
