| 内容記述 | 芥川龍之介『羅生門』（1915）に登場する老婆は、「死骸」の臭気が充溢する場で、「死骸」の中に蹲りながら、「死骸」と向き合う形で登場し、さらに「肉食鳥」「鴉」「蟇」といったネガティブな比喩表現によって造形されている。このような老婆表象は、従来、下人の心理を中心とするストーリーとの整合性において意味づけられてきた。しかし本稿では、むしろその整合性を脱自然化すること、すなわち妖怪や魔物を連想させるネガティブな視覚的・聴覚的表現と、老婆に対する下人の「憎悪」や「侮蔑」といった感情、さらに下人の老婆に対する加害行為という三つの要素を結びつける暴力的なレトリックの回路を、同時代的なインターテクスチュアリティの観点から解体することを試みる。それにより、これまで古典文学に起源を求められてきた老婆表象が、同時代的なジェンダー／エイジング規範と響き合うものであり、下人の心理もまたそうした規範性と不可分なものであることを明らかにした。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The old woman who appears in Ryunosuke Akutagawa's Rashomon（1915） is one of the most famous and horrifying images of old women in the history of Japanese modern literature. In Rashomon, the old woman crouches amidst a heap of corpses, surrounded by their stench. She is depicted through negative animal metaphors, such as“ flesh-eating bird”,“ crow”,“ toad”, and so on. This imagery is seen as consistent with the Genin's psychology with his perspective at the center of the story. However, from an intertextual view of modern literature, I try to deconstruct the consistency of this rhetoric, which ties three elements: negative visual and audible expressions that suggest the old woman's otherworldliness, the Genin's hatred and contempt for the old woman, and his violence toward her. As a result, I demonstrate that the image of the old woman, which is often seen to derive from classical literature, is connected with contemporary gender / aging standards, and that the Genin's psychology is also inseparable from those standards. | |||||
